At Communication Station Speech Therapy, we provide competent, research-driven therapy services. All services are provided by ASHA certified and state licensed SLPs. A summary of some of the services we offer include:
Screenings
Evaluations
Treatment Sessions
The SLP will conduct a brief overview of your child's skills in pragmatics, language, speech sounds, and other necessary areas. You will then be advised on the next step: re-screen, evaluation, or no further action. This is a complimentary service.
Evaluations are in-depth analyses of your child's communication skills. The SLP assesses your child's speech sounds and language skills using standardized tests. You are then told whether or not your child qualifies for services. An individualized treatment plan is developed. You and your pediatrician are provided with a detailed report summarizing testing findings and goals for intervention.
Each treatment session is tailored to your child's individual needs. This means no two sessions will ever look the same. The SLP works with your child 1:1 to help overcome communication challenges using research-driven strategies and techniques.
It Takes Two to Talk - The Hanen Program
Hanen is a step-by-step parent training program designed to teach you how to be your child's language teacher. This program is perfect for families whose children are presenting as "late talkers." This program is also beneficial for those children whose parents or physician feels traditional speech therapy is not necessary at this time.
During a 6-8 week small group setting, the speech-pathologist teaches parents practical strategies to help their children learn language naturally throughout daily routines.
By completing the It Takes Two to Talk® - The Hanen Program® you will: 1.) recognize your child's stages and style of communication; 2.) identify what motivates your child so you know to to get communication going; 3.) adjust everyday routines to help your child take turns and prolong interactions; 4.) follow your child's lead to build confidence and encourage communication; 5.) add language to interactions with your child to encourage understanding and use when he is ready; 6.) modify the way you ready books and speak to help your child understand and express more.
